Our Story

When Andrea Atkins, Founder and Academic Director of Speakhabla, moved to LATAM over a decade ago, she began teaching Business English across multiple language schools. She worked with ambitious professionals, executives, managers, entrepreneurs, and corporate teams who were investing time and effort into improving their English.
Many of them had strong vocabulary.
Many understood grammar.
Many had taken years of English classes.
But in meetings, presentations, negotiations, interviews, and client conversations, something was still missing.
They did not just need more English.
They needed a better way to communicate in English.
From Face-to-Face Classes to a Global Virtual Learning Experience

Then COVID changed everything.
Like many education companies, Speakhabla had to pivot quickly. But instead of simply moving classes to Zoom and calling it “online learning,” we used that moment to rebuild and improve our entire learning experience.
Technology creates structure and convenience. Human guidance creates connection, accountability, and meaningful progress.
The Gap Speakhabla Was Built to Close
Andrea saw that traditional Business English training often focused on textbooks, vocabulary lists, grammar exercises, and general conversation practice.
Those things can be useful.
But they are not enough for professionals who need to use English as a business tool.

Our online learning management system supports scheduling, attendance, class access, progress tracking, class summaries, and communication between students, teachers, and our academic team.
We also use AI as a learning partner, not as a substitute for human teaching.
AI can support review, reflection, personalization, and practice.
Our LMS can create structure, visibility, and consistency.
But the teacher remains essential.

One of the most important parts of the Speakhabla model is continuity.
Many large online learning platforms rotate teachers constantly. A student may meet a different instructor every class, repeat the same introductions, and never build a real learning relationship.
We believe professionals learn better when they are known.
That is why we encourage long-term relationships between teachers and students whenever possible.
When a teacher understands a student’s role, goals, strengths, challenges, personality, industry, and communication patterns, the learning becomes deeper and more effective.
